Today that wolf seemed to be making every effort to blow down the brick house! Wind speed 23 mph, and there's a wind advisory in effect. In fact, this seemed to be an "everything goes wrong" day.
During the past week, I had taken the O-ring off of the Camel-Bak lid to wash it; something I had never done before. Now it isn't sealing properly, and I had to set out with only a half-load of water. It probably would have been enough for my usual distance, especially as the weather isn't hot, but all the same I was a bit nervous about it
About five miles into the ride, it began to rain. Even with leg warmers, a cycling jacket, and a skull cap, I was getting chilled. This, before the wind got up to full speed. I was wearing half-fingered gloves, and my hands were cold. Cold and wet is a miserable combination, riding wasn't making me feel warmer, and I cut my ride drastically short as a result.
And I had to wait for a train before I could get home. About the only thing that went right was that I had a tailwind on the way back. Now that I'm home, I of course am thinking that I ought to have kept going! Maybe go out for a ride later? It looks like the sky will clear up a good deal, but that wolf will still be a-blowin'!
