Q: What happens when Niagara trips? A: Niagara Falls.
If I ever take a big fall, I hope I have time to tuck and roll, or whatever it is. As the article says, though, when you fall it happens so fast that there's usually not time to react. And to say, fall OFF a bike doesn't seem accurate to me. When I've gone down, I've gone down WITH the bike.
I'm not riding anywhere near as fast as those pro tour riders, and if I take a tumble it can be bad enough. It seems a miracle to me that more pro racers don't end up as quadriplegics after getting caught in a multiple-rider pile-up.
But I guess they love riding, the feel of their bodies working hard, and everything else that goes with racing bicycles. I'm sure that, to them, the risks are worth it. I admire them for that.
