Then there's "force" as used in cycling lingo; aka "strength". I seem to be sadly lacking in that area. Today I experimented with getting into a hard gear that slowed my cadence to about 50 rpm; then worked at pushing the cadence to 70 rpm for 10 seconds at a time. It took most of the 10 seconds just to get my cadence up to 70.
On the bright side, I could push my speed up to 20 mph that way! In fact, almost to 21 mph =) I'd better wait a few days before I do this drill again, all the more as I was doing interval work yesterday, too. Joe Friel says, don't try to find your limits too often. But sometimes I suspect that I push my limits too seldom.
