Is the weather everywhere as crazy as it is here? The overnight low for last Friday/Saturday was 39 degrees; this coming week the temperatures will be in the 60's during the day. Well, it's good for riding, I admit; but it's almost Winter!
We had two or three consecutive Winters when it got a lot colder than usual, and stayed that way for an unusually long time. It was hard to stay warm, both indoors and out; but those cold snaps had an upside. Most of the buck moth caterpillars got killed off. With our Winters getting warm again, I'm afraid they'll return with a vengeance.
Today I got in 44.40 miles. On the way back I had the breeze against me. I didn't try to work too hard against it; my Sunday long rides are supposed to be about long, steady distance (LSD), not intervals. All then same, I can't help but wonder whether I should include some stints of pushing the pace against the wind during my LSD rides. For all I know, Tour de Cure day will see us riders battling strong winds.
