When I got the wind behind me, it was great. It let me ride at 16-17 mph, still in low gear, with a cadence in the one-hundred-teens. Going the other direction, however, it was a different story. Both speed and cadence had to slack off if I wanted to stay in HR zone 3.
The temperature was in the mid 60s when I started my ride; the coolest it's been in months. Until I got warmed up, I felt a little chilly; and I was glad I wore arm warmers! When it gets cool enough for arm and leg warmers, I can rejoice about this: I use much less sunblock!
When I go on a ride long enough for me to need to bring along food, I put my "nibbles" in a small plastic bag, and put the bag in my top tube pouch. Today, as I was taking out the last piece of Clif Bar, the wind grabbed the bag and blew it away. Now I feel like a litterbug.
