For a long time I worked at getting in 100 miles per week. It was a challenge! I enjoyed seeing how many miles I could get in. I'm now at the stage where I'm more conscious of "making the miles count", especially during weekday morning rides, when time is limited.
This "junk miles" business got me to thinking of a character in some of Carolyn Haywood's books: a young boy named Eddie Wilson. Eddie collected what he called "valuable property", and the rest of his family called -- you guessed it -- JUNK!
