Since I took to pushing the pedals, however, colds have been much less of a problem. I don't know why, unless it's that exercise strengthens the immune system.
I'm not going to argue with it; anybody would be happy to have fewer colds. When the outdoor temperature starts to fall below about 75, my nose gets sniffly as I ride; but that's another matter. The cooler the weather, the more sniffly my nose gets. Wind just makes it worse.
It's very annoying, as you can probably guess, and I get tired of having to wipe my nose on the backs of my cycling gloves. It sounds disgusting, but just try and pull out a handkerchief when you're pedaling at a brisk pace. The only other alternative that I can think of is the snot rocket, which I find even more disgusting than wiping my nose on my clothes.
