Part of my problem is my sweet tooth. I can't remember when I didn't have a huge appetite for candy and other sugary treats. When I'm at work, there's the allure of vending machines. It's sometimes too easy to get food.
On top of all that, I'm wary of letting myself get to the point where my stomach starts to growl. When I do, I "bonk" in 15-20 minutes; or sometimes simultaneously. I don't even have to be on my bike for it to happen.
There's a book called, Ride Your Way Lean, another of Selene Yeager's books. It includes information on how to determine a good weight for you, several programs for losing weight by bicycling (which one you choose depends on how much weight you want to lose), and more.
Right now isn't a wise time to make a major effort at weight loss; I have to focus on using my remaining century-training time as well as possible. But it would be a good idea to pay more attention to substituting carrot sticks and apples for Peanut Butter M&Ms!
By the way, Ride Your Way Lean mentions a hormone called ghrelin, which causes you to feel hungry. I find that word amusing. It reminds me of "gremlin". Just as a gremlin would sabotage an airplane, ghrelin can sabotage your diet!
