But then I thought, how much per mile did I pay for that old saddle? Assuming it cost roughly the same as the new one, not two cents per mile! And the road bike itself, which I hope lasts a long time yet. It's cost less than 20 cents per mile, taking the sticker price alone into account.
So, expensive as it seems, bicycling is actually fairly inexpensive. I cringe to think of how much more per mile a car would cost. Especially considering that I haven't had a car in over 13 years, and inflation has driven (no pun intended) up the price of everything from the car itself to insurance.
