Many a bent that I've seen has a fairing, to help reduce aerodynamic drag. Riding a bent is said to be easier on the lower back than riding a regular bicycle. I can't speak from experience, so I'll take their word for it.
I remember seeing a tandem recumbent, and I've seen a recumbent adult trike, too. I've even seen a tandem adult tricycle, although it wasn't recumbent style. You'll see all kinds of pedal-powered vehicles once you start riding regularly.
Who knows, maybe one day I'll join the bent crowd, too. No hurry, though. Let me get all the miles I can out of my road bike (11,000 and counting).
