I've often wondered what goes through the minds of the riders as they arrive at this final stretch. For the jersey winners, I'm sure there's great elation. After three weeks of such immense effort, it wouldn't surprise me if many (or most, or even all) riders are relieved that it's over. And are other riders disappointed at how things panned out for them?
But I wouldn't surprised if they're a little sad that it's over, too. They've taken part in the most prestigious stage race in the world. They trained hard leading up to TdF, and they've given the race their all. It's natural to feel a bit let down after such exertion. And are they already looking forward to Tour de France 2017?
I'm still puzzled about one aspect of TdF prizes. Why do the members of the Best Team get a stuffed cow?
